Roma, 16/06/2006 (SPS) The President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Fausto Bertinotti, denounced the human rights violations, tortures and show trials in the occupied territories of the Western Sahara in addition to the inertia of the international community.

Mr. Bertinotti indicated that the international community and the Italian parliament’s groups are very concerned to the Saharawi people claims of sovereignty on the Western Sahara, though this concern is never completed with actions while we are aware of the human rights violations.

Recalling that the Saharawi citizens are daily denouncing human rights abuses, Bertinotti asked for urgent peaceful and diplomatic actions to stop these violations. (SPS)
