Spanish youth reaffirms Saharawis' inalienable right to self-determination

14.08.04

Madrid, 14/08/2004 (SPS) The VI Youth Conference of solidarity with the Western Sahara, held for two days within the framework of the International Festival of Youth in Barcelona, ended its work with a final declaration on Western Sahara that calls for the Saharawi people inalienable right to self-determination and independence.

Approved unanimously and recalling that the Western Sahara conflict remains on the agenda of UN decolonisation Commission since the 60ies, this declaration underlined "Saharawi people inalienable right to self-determination and independence".

On another hand, the declaration denounces " "the disrespect to international legality" as underlined in UN Security Council's resolution 1495 and "the obstructing attitude of Morocco" in the implementation of the same resolution.

Some 8.000 young from all over the world are taking part these days to the International Festival of Youth in Barcelona, which is also holding the activities of the Universal Forum of Culture. (SPS)
