Norway reiterates its support to the Baker Plan

Norwegian Foreign Affairs Minister, Vidar Helsen, reaffirmed the "clear
and resolute support to UN decisions" and to the Baker Plan aimed at
reaching a just and peaceful solution to Western Sahara conflict,
reported a Saharawi source in Brussels.
During his meeting with Mr. Mohamed Sidati, Saharawi Minister Counselor
delegated to Europe, Mr. Vidar Helesen, also "regretted" the visit
undertaken to Saharawi occupied territories by Norwegian Ambassador to
Morocco, the same source added. (SPS)
SPS SADR/USA/VISIT The President of the Republic
ends his visit to the USA by a meeting with Baker

The President of the Saharawi Republic (SADR), Mohamed Abdelaziz, ended
a 4 days work visit to the USA, on Friday. He culminated the visit by a
meeting in Houston, described as "warm", with the former American
Secretary of State, James Baker, indicated a source from the
presidential delegation.
Mr. Baker, former Personal Envoy to Western Sahara of the UN Secretary
General, worked on the dossier for 7 years (1997-2004) during which he
supervised negotiations between Polisario Front and Morocco that led to
the signature of the Houston Accords in September 1997.
He is also the author of many plans, of which the last (February 2003)
is the Peace Plan for the self-determination of the people of Western
Sahara, was unanimously adopted in the UN's Security Council’s
resolution 1495/2003, before he gave up in July 2004, frustrated and
discouraged by the French supported Moroccan intransigence.
Mr. Abdelaziz, it should be recalled, had had meetings with many
American Senator during his visit especially with Edward Kennedy, James
Inhofe, Edward Royce, Tom Tancredo, Joe Pitts, Peter Hoekstra, Henry
Cuellar, Zach Wamp, Donald Payne and Ted Poe.
"All personalities encountered expressed a high concern to have their
country more implicated for a quick and just solution to the conflict
in Western Sahara, conforming to international legality and based on
UN's resolutions, especially Security Council's resolution 1495 that
support the Peace Plan for the self-determination of the people of
Western Sahara elaborated by former Secretary of American State Mr.
James Baker", underlined Mr. Mhamed Khaddad, member to the presidential
delegation.
During the visit the Head of the State was accompanied by Mr. MHamed
Khadad, Member to Polisario Front's National Secretariat, and Polisario
Front's representatives to Washington and New York, respectively
Mouloud Saaid and Boukhari Ahmed, it was indicated. (SPS)
