The Saharawi political prisoners in Inzegan announce a second phase of hunger strike for this Wednesday

Inzegan (South of Morocco), 13/06/2006 (SPS) The Saharawi political prisoners in the Moroccan prison of Inzegan declared that they will enter a second phase of hunger strike this Wednesday, to denounce the inhumane conditions of detention they are suffering from an protest against the harassment they are daily subjected to by the Moroccan colonial authorities.

 

The group of 12 Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in this Moroccan prison decide to stop drinking water and sugar (the only alimentation they used to have lately) in solidarity with their compatriots "deprived by the Moroccan penitentiary authorities from enjoying their rights to medical care".

 

Seven of the political prisoners, who are in very bad health state, "are refused the right to access the medical centre in the prison of Inzegan" by the Moroccan penitentiary authorities, the prisoners stressed in a press release they publicise on Tuesday, of which SPS received a copy.

 

The concerned prisoners are: Banga Cheikh, Bourgaa Omar, Al Mansouri Driss, Tamek Mohamed, Kjout Brahim, Bakrimi Mustapha, Lefkir Lahassan, who were brutally tortured by the Moroccan forces o repression.

 

These prisoners are maintained for the second month in prison without judgment, and have started an unlimited hunger strike since last Wednesday, it should be recalled. (SPS)

The President of the Republic participates to the African Summit in Abuja

 

 

 

 

Abuja, 13/06/2006 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived on Monday to Abuja to participate to the AU Summit on the fertilisation o African lands, which is held in the Nigerian capital, under the chairmanship of the Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, and animated by the partnership for African development, Nepad, indicated the Saharawi presidency in a press release.

 

This summit must adopt a policy of fertilisation of the African agriculture lands, will take part with the presence of a dozens African Heads of States, th President of the AU Commission, Alpha Oumar Konaré, and the current President of the AU, Congo President, Denis Sassou Nguesso, it was indicated.

 

The presidential delegation is composed by the Minister for Development, Hamdi Khalil Meyara, Ambassador to Nigeria, Alienne Habib Kentawi and Mr. Abdati Breika, Councillor at the presidency. (SPS)

Big demonstrations in the occupied city of Smara on the occasion of the day of the Martyr  

 

 

 
 

Smara (occupied territories), 13/06/2006 (SPS) Many Saharawi youth, mainly children, organised on Monday a big demonstration advocating the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the day of the Martyr, which as celebrated last Friday in the liberated territories (the region of Aghoueinit).

 

Demonstrators raised the Saharawi national flags and chanted slogans in favour of their people’s rights to self/determination asking for the "immediate withdrawal" of the Moroccan occupation from the Saharawi territories.

 

The Moroccan forces of occupation intervened to disperse the demonstrators « making excessive use of violence" against the children, it was indicated. (SPS)
