A demonstration and an international conference will be organised this 16th
April in front of UN's headquarters in Geneva to claim for «the self-determination
to Saharawi people and for the enforcement of UN's resolutions», as
well as demanding from Morocco the release of political prisoners, prisoners
of war and to draw light on the fate of more than 500 Saharawi persons reported
disappeared since the beginning of the conflict.
These activities, supervised by the Association of the Families of Saharawi
Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA), the Association of Saharawi Jurists,
and supported by European comities of support to Saharawi people and many
non-governmental organisations such as the International Bureau for the Respect
of Human Rights in Western Sahara (BIRDHSO) and the International League
for the Rights and Liberation of Peoples (LIDLIP), indicated a communiqué
of the organisers.
Hundreds of Saharawis and supporters of the cause in Spain, France, Belgium
and Italy will come to Geneva to demonstrate on the occasion of the 60th
session of the UN's Commission for Human Rights, it was emphasised.
Under the theme «Peace and respect of human rights for Saharawi people»,
speakers will intervene during a conference expected to conclude the demonstration
at the International Centre of Conferences in Geneva. (SPS)
