Smara (occupied territories), 12/03/2005 (SPS) Saharawi students in the institution of applied technology in Smara organised Thursday a sit-in in their school in solidarity with Saharawi students repressed by Moroccan police in the University of Rabat last Tuesday, reported matching sources.

Before that, the students of the secondary school of "Saguiet El Hamra", in the same city, organised a strike for few hours in solidarity with their compatriots the victims of Rabat.

The Committee of the victims of the events of Smara recently spread a press release in which it condemned "the use of violence" by the Moroccan security services against Saharawi student in Rabat. "A practice that violates human rights and freedom of expression", underlined the text of which SPS received a copy.

A wide campaign of protest was launched last Wednesday against the repressive practices committed by Moroccan authorities against Saharawi students. The students, it should be recalled, claimed for self-determination and human right respect in Western Sahara, their territory, which is under Medias and security siege from 1975, the date of its invasion by Morocco.
