SPS SADR/ALGERIA The Saharawi Prime Minister meets with his Algerian counterpart 10.07.05

Algiers, 10/07/2006 (SPS) The Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Oumar, met
on Monday, with his Algerian counterpart, Abdelaziz Belkhadem, at the Palace of
e Government with the presence of the Secretary of State for African and Maghreb
Affairs, Abdelkhader Messahel, and the Secretary General of the Algerian Prime
Ministry, Houssein Meghlaoui.
After the
meeting, the Prime Minister declared to the press that the meeting "enabled us
to express our vivid thanks and recognition to the Head of the Algerian
Government, and to the Algerian people under the presidency of His Excellency,
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika for the constant position of Algeria beside the
Saharawi people in their struggle for the freedom and independence".
"This position, he said, which lasted for more than 30 years of the
international legality and the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination,
was reaffirmed again by the Algerian Prime Minister at a moment when the
Saharawi cause is facing the "so-called" presented by Morocco", he said.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers for Foreign Affairs and of Interior,
respectively Mohamed Salem Ould Salek and Mohamed Lamine Dedi, in addition to
the President of the Constitutional Council, Mohamed Mazin, and the Saharawi
Ambassador to Algiers, Mohamed Yeslem Beissat.
This meeting took place in margin of the works of the week of the Saharawi
State, organised between the 6th to the 12th July on the
initiative of the Algerian National Committee of solidarity with the Saharawi
people (CNASPS) and the summer University of the Polisario Front’s cadres, it
should be recalled.
Before that the Saharawi Prime Minister and the delegation accompanying him
visited the centre of the Algerian National archive, where they attended a
conference under the theme "the memory of a Nation" animated by the director of
the Centre, Abdelmajid Chikhi.
The Saharawi delegation will also meet with the different Algerian political
parties, it was recalled.(SPS)

SPS OCCUPIED TERRITORIES/REPRESSION A Saharawi citizen paralysed because of tortures

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 10/07/2006 (SPS) Ali Salem Haddi, the
elder brother of the Saharawi political prisoner, Ahmed Mahmoud Heddi El Kainan,
remains paralysed because of the torture he was subjected to by the Moroccan
forces of repression, reported a trustworthy source.
Mr. Ali Salem, who wanted to ask about his brother recently arrested by the
Moroccan police, was "brutally tortured" and wounded in his foot in the same
police station where his brother is detained in the "24 November" street in the
occupied city of El Aaiun, it was indicated.
Doctors recommended the evacuation of the victim to specialise hospital to have
an urgent chirurgical intervention because of his serious state, his family
declared.
On another hand, the occupied city of Smara is the theatre of demonstrations
since Saturday. Demonstrators raised the Saharawi flag in the neighbourhood of
"Ahmed Laroussi" and distributed tracts asking for the "immediate and
unconditional withdrawal of the Moroccan occupation from the Western Sahara".
In Tan Tan (south of Morocco), the Saharawi citizen raised the Saharawi flags in
the neighbourhood of "Sidi Mohamed Dedech". The Moroccan authorities quickly
came to move the flags and intervened against demonstrators.
