Chahid El Hafed
10/06/04 (SPS) The President of the
Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, inaugurated the offices of the principal
national
newspaper (Sahara Libre), on Wednesday at the ministry of information,
with the
presence of members of the political leadership and of friends from the
international solidarity with the saharawi issue abroad.
“Actually the place
in itself, as a building, is certainly modest,
but historically it is of a vital importance. "Sahara Libre" is a
national newspaper which is the echo of the existence of the Saharawi
people", underlined the Head of the State, during this ceremony to
which
members of the Government, representatives of national and foreign
delegations
and an important number of journalists took part.
" We have now
intellectual abilities and techniques
which surely will facilitate the wide spreading of "Sahara Libre" on
Internet in order to break the media embargo, and to surmount the
military
obstacles, namely mines, walls of defence, Moroccan police forces in
our
occupied territories and, will allow Moroccan intellectuals to listen
to our
opinion on another hand ", he said.
In spite of "the
modest available means and the technological
needs required for better efficiency, we are planning to edit this
newspaper in
Spanish in the near future", he added.
"So, by
commemorating, today, the 28th year of
the edition of this newspaper, we also commemorate 28 years of Algerian
support
for our cause side by side with Swedish solidarity, represented here by
'EMMUS'", underlined Mr. Abdelaziz. (SPS)
