Campaign of protest against repression of Saharawi students in Rabat

El Aaiun (occupied territory), 10/03/2005 (SPS) A wide campaign of protest was launched in occupied territories and in Morocan universities against the repressive practices Saharawi students  were victims to, last Tuesday in Rabat. The opressive attack against demonstrating Saharawi student last Tuesday resulted to the injuries of more than 20 university students, reported matching sources.
 
In this respect, Human Rights Rafto Price winner, Sidi Mohamed Deddech, Saharawi human rights defenders, the Committee for the Protection of the Detainees of the Carcel Negra, denounced this "blind repression", which striked "inocent young persons" in a moment Morocco highly claims "to be respecting human rights".

Saharawi human rights activists declared their "solidarity with the students' mouvement in its legitimte struggle" and called all persons concerned with justice to "pressure Morocco respect human rights in Western Sahara".

On his part, Ali Salem Tamek, Saharawi tradeunionist and former political prisoner, joined this campaign of protest calling the Moroccan Government "to allow Saharawi people freely exercice their right to self-determination".

The Committee for the protection of Saharawi detainees in Morocco, on another hand, claimed for free access of foreign observers and medias to Western Sahara so as to allow them "have an idea, on the ground, about the conditions of detention of all the Saharawi population under Moroccan colonial occupation".

Moroccan police had repressed, last Tuesday afternoon, a demonstration in Rabat organised by Saharawi students, who were claiming their people's right to self-determination and the respect of human right in Western Sahara. (SPS)

Smara joins the campaign of protest against the repression of Saharawi students in Rabat




Smara (occupied territory), 10/03/2005 (SPS) Hundreds of the occupied city of Smara's citizens organised Thursday a sit-in in front of the seat of the Moroccan colonial administration in solidarity with their children, who were repressed and seriously hurted in universities of Rabat last Tuesday, indicated a close source to the families of victims.
 
Meanwhile, the students of the secondary school of "Saguiet El Hamra", in the same city, organised a strike for few hours in solidairty with their compatriots the victims of Rabat.
 
A wide campaign of protest was launched last Wednesday against the represive practices commited by Morocan authorities against Saharawi students. The students, it should be recalled, claimed for self-determination and human right respect in Western Sahara, their territory, which is under medias and security siege from 1975, the date of its invasion by Morocco.
