Three Saharawi citizens arrested and tortured in the occupied city of El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 09/08/2006 (SPS) The Moroccan colonial forces arrested three Saharawi citizens during demonstrations, which were organised on Monday in Feim El Ouad (El Aaiun beach) advocating "the immediate withdrawal" of the Moroccan occupation from the Western Sahara occupied by Morocco since 30 years, concordant sources indicated.

 

The citizens: Lensari Chrifa, Salka Abeid and Hamdi Yaya were arrested and "brutally" tortured by the Moroccan forces of repression after demonstrations during which the Saharawi citizens raised the Saharawi national flags, chanted slogans in favour of the independence of the Western Sahara and asking for the respect of the human rights in the occupied territories of the Saharawi Republic, the same sources stressed.

 

On another hand, the Saharawi citizen, Chebeida Laroussi, who was arrested last March 19th 2006 in the occupied city of Dajla and transferred to the notorious Carcel Negra (Black Jail) in El Aaiun, will be brought on Wednesday in front of the colonial court in El Aaiun, it was added.

 

On its side, the occupied city of Smara is submitted to a permanent state of siege, the patrols of the different corps of the auxiliary forces organise show marches in the city to terrorise the Saharawi citizens, and dissuade them from demonstrating, according to eyewitnesses. (SPS)

The President of the Republic receives the deputy SG of the Union of Progressive Forces

 

 

 

 

Chahid El Hafed, 09/08/2006 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, received a delegation of the Union of Progressive Forces (UFP- in French abbreviation) chaired by the deputy Secretary General of the Union, Mohamed Moustapha Ould Bedredine.

 

"We are very happy of receiving, among us, an old militant and a devoted defender of the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence, in the person of Mr. Mohamed Moustapha ould Bedredine, who was present to the 2nd Congress of the POLISARIO Front, held in August 1976, while the Representative of the movement of the Kadihinnes, the National Democratic Movement (MND)", Mr. Abdelaziz underlined during a luncheon he offered to his guest.

 

"Mauritania and the Saharawi Republic are two eggs in the same nest, any stone that is thrown to this nest will certainly break both of them", the Head of the State said referring to a statement of the late founder of the POLISARIO Front, El Ouali Moustapha Sayed, who fell in the field of honour in June the 9th 1976.

 

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohamed Lamine Ould Bouhali, Khattri Adouh, M'hamed Khadad, El Khalil Sidi M'hamed and Mohamed Bouzeid, respectively Member of the Polisario National Secretariat (SN), Minister for Defence, Member of the SN, in charge for political orientation, Member of the SN Coordinator with the MINURSO, Minister for the Occupied territories, and the President of the Saharawi Constitutional Council. "We consider ourselves the representatives of the Polisario Front in Mauritania", UFP declares

 

 

 

 

Chahid El Hafed, 09/08/2006 (SPS) "We consider ourselves the representatives of the Polisario Front in Mauritania", affirmed the deputy Secretary General of Union of Progressive Forces (UFP- in French abbreviation), Moustapha Ould Bedredine, who undertaking a work visit to the Saharawi Republic, in a statement to the press.

 

"Our two peoples are historically linked by an old passed of resistance against colonialism and a common future in the struggle for progress, democracy and prosperity", Mr. Bedredine declared, adding that an independent Saharawi State "will be a rampart in front of the forces of evil that threaten Mauritania".

 

He also underlined that the "independence of the Saharawi Republic is a primordial condition for the independence of Mauritania". A belief that led the leaders of the Mauritanian Party "to reactivate the historical relations" between its political party and the POLISARIO Front, tied for more than 30 years while the POLISARIO was still struggling against Spanish colonialism.

 

The UFP is the radical branch of the Mauritania National Movement (MND), ex movement of opposition under the regime of Ould Daddah, which was constituted in 1968 to denounce the neo-colonialism in the country and advocate the total independence of Mauritania. (SPS)
