The President of the Republic gives medals to the winners of the 5th edition of the Sahara Marathon

Marrakech, 09/03/2005 (SPS) Saharawi students in Marrakech and Agadir organised Wednesday a demonstration of solidarity with their compatriots in Rabat. 18 of the students of Rabat were injured Tuesday in confrontations with the Moroccan police in the university campus "Al Irfan", reported SPS correspondent on the ground.

In Marrakech, the students read a press release denouncing "the repressing practices" of Moroccan authorities against the students of Rabat, who chanted slogans in favour of "Saharawi people self-determination" and claim for "excuses and " to their injured compatriots and for compensations for their rooms destroyed by Moroccan police.

In Agadir, the demonstration was also followed by all the Saharawi students in this Moroccan city where hundreds of Saharawis study in Moroccan universities there because of the non existence of universities in Western Sahara.

They read the same press release joining the wave of protest that also attained Casablanca in the morning and which is proposed to be generalised in all schools and educational institutions where Saharawis study, it was indicated.
 
Many injured, 18 so far named, were transferred to hospitals near university campuses "Souissi 1" and "Souissi 2", according to the same source.

The Ministry for Occupied Territories publicised the following list of the victims of this new human right violation:

"The same sources indicated that there are still police pursuits undertaken against Saharawi students in the campus of Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca and Rabat. (SPS)
