Hafed 08/03/04 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, chaired
Today the ceremony of designation of a preparing committee to the Vth congress
of the Union of Workers of Saguia el Hamra y Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO), which
will be held from the next 18th to the 20 May in "27th of February School".
In his opening speech, the Head of State evoked "the preponderant historical
role of workers in the starting of armed fight against the Spanish colonialism"
and their "mass participation in the struggle against the machination in
1975 hatched against our people through the Moroccan military invasion of
our territory".
"Saharawi workers inside the territory as well as abroad massively answered
the appeal of the homeland, exchanging their good situation by the struggle
for freedom, dignity and independence", he stated, in front of many members
of the National Secretariat and Government and the 35 members of the preparing
committee.
"Workers are called again to continue their struggle under the leadership
of UGTSARIO not only to recover our rights Moroccan colonialism is despoiling,
but also to actively participate to productive work in order to soften the
dramatic consequences of refugees food needs, and who are lately subjected
to serious restrictions regarding the international humanitarian assistance",
he added.
In this respect, the Head of State stressed on work education, mentioning
the negative effects of humanitarian assistance to the refugees that is causing
them dependency and killing in them the spirit of productivity and self-sufficiency.
Evoking the circumstances of the holding of this meeting, Mr. Abdelaziz stated
that the constitution of this committee intervenes in an a memorable day,
day of the first martyr of Polisario Front, Bachir Lehlaoui, who fell in
the field of honour in Mars the 8, 1974 in J'Deiria Battle led against Spanish
colonialism, the same day coincide with the international women's day.
''Two events that appeal us to the necessity of redoubling efforts in the
legitimate struggle we are leading for self-determination and independence'',

Closure of the National Conference of Information

(SPS) the National Conference of Information closed its works on Sunday
in "27th of February School", with the presence of Prime Minister, Abdelkader
Taleb Oumar, and many members of his government.
For two days, journalists, technicians and employees of information discussed,
in commissions or during the plenary session, over the best ways and means
to improve their output and to bring the National information to the level
of the challenges and norms of a world opened to concurrence, where mass
media struggle with unequal means to diffuse their products.
The participants concluded with a global strategy aiming to increasingly
mobilise the international public opinion on the nature of Moroccan colonial
occupation to the Saharawi territory, to denounce human rights violations
in Western Sahara and to achieve the edification of a democratic and prosperous
State, which can transpose the vestiges of repression, obscurantism and
colonial retrograding methods.
The message of the different Saharawi mass media, radios, press agency,
newspapers and television, should continue to conform to the ethics and norms
of the profession, and to keep away from the propaganda, so as to diffuse
credible products, which can guarantee national Medias continuity and development,
according to the conference.
The conference adopted status for National Mass Medias, a conduct law for
journalists, inspired of these principles.
It finally addressed a message of praise to all Algerian press for the
exemplary struggle it led and still is leading side by side with Saharawis
in their struggle for national liberation.
The conference, had also adopted a special motion on the Association for
a Referendum in Western Sahara (ARSO). The conference hailed the abnegation
and the courage of the members of this association, who had never given
up informing the public opinion on the conflict since its beginnings.
Addressing the European Coordination of support to Saharawi people (EUCOCO),
the conference paid tribute to its president, Belgian Senator, Pierre Galland,
and to its European members, especially Basque's committee of support for
the technical support it provides to the national radio and to the newspaper
''Sahara Libre''.
Finally, the conference designated a special commission in charge of preparing
the Ministry of Information's participation to the international conference
expected to be held next May in Spain.
Opened on Saturday, with the presence of the President of the Republic,
Mohamed Abdelaziz, the National Conference of Information was chaired by the
Minister of Information, Sid'Ahmed Batal, and attended by many members of
the National Secretariat, the Government and civil society's organisation.
