07.02.04

Madrid, 07/02/2004 (SPS) The Task Force (TF) of The European Coordination of support to Saharawi People (EUCOCO) called Un to impose Baker's Plan for the self-determination of Saharawi people on Morocco, and asked the International Socialist (IS) to support Saharawis to recover their legitimate rights, reported a pres release the Task Force published on Saturday.

Meeting on Saturday, in Madrid, under the chairmanship of the Belgian Senator, Pierre Galland, to analyse the peace process in Western Sahara after the last Secretary General's (SG) report and the resolution 1523 of the 30th January, the TF asked UN's SG to pay all efforts to ''impose a political solution that guarantees the self-determination of Saharawi People, as determined in the 1st paragraph of Security Council's resolution 1429 issued on the 30 July 2003''.

It also called international community to react in order that Saharawi people can finally ''practice their inalienable right to self-determination and conclude the process of decolonisation from the last colony in Africa''.

The Task Force, which meeting coincides with the conference of IS in Madrid, launched an appeal to the latter so as to ''support the peace plan for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara, and to actively collaborate to unblock the situation in order to allow its implementation as soon as possible to the benefit of the whole Maghreb''.

''The inhuman sufferings Saharawi people have borne during 29 years, allow no more prorogations no delays'', underlined the release of which SPS received a copy. (SPS)
