Three Saharawi citizens arrested and tortured in the occupied city of El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 06/08/2006 (SPS) The Moroccan forces of repression arrested three Saharawi citizens during demonstrations that took place Wednesday evening in the occupied city of El Aaiun, advocating the "immediate withdrawal" of the Moroccan occupation of the Western Sahara, concordant sources reported.

The forces of occupation "brutally intervened" to disperse the demonstration, arresting the Saharawi citizens: Walid Ghafour, Abba Ali and Mahjoub Ayach, who were tortured and threatened "of sexual harassment" in the criminal police station, the same sources indicated.

The victims were also subjected to interrogatories for three days about their relations with the Saharawi human rights activists and the objective of their visit to the Carcel Negra, before been abandoned in the middle of the night in the circumference of the occupied city of El Aaiun, it was added.

The demonstrators, who marched in the street of "Tan Tan" before been dispersed, advocating the "departure of the Moroccan occupation" of the Saharawi territories chanting slogans in favour of the liberation of the Western Sahara and raising the flags of the Saharawi Republic. (SPS)
