Dakhla (occupied territories), 05/03/2006 (SPS) The Moroccan colonial authorities in the occupied city of Dakhla, proceeded on Wednesday to the abusive dismissal of the Saharawi human rights activist, Mamay Ahmed Menhenoun, in an attempt to dissuade the activities of the Saharawi human rights defenders from informing the international public opinion on the flagrant human rights violations perpetrated by Morocco in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, SPS’s correspondent on the ground reported.
This measure was adopted by the Moroccan authorities after they failed to expulse another human right activist, El Mami Amar Salem, and after the abusive dismissal of the Saharawi human rights defenders, Oulad Cheikh El Mahjoub and Wani Beida, as well as the torture of Miské Ahmed Zein, another activist who is still suffering from wounds, and remains unable to move from bed for weeks, the same source adds.
The occupied city of Dakhla remains under a state of permanent siege ; especially in the streets and neighbourhoods inhabited by a Saharawi majority in addition to schools.
On another hand, the Saharawi students in the occupied city of Smara organised a peaceful demonstration, on Friday, raising the flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and chanting slogans rejecting the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
On their side, the Saharawi students of the occupied city of Boujdour raised the Saharawi flags during a demonstration advocating the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.
The Moroccan forces of repression immediately intervened so as to stop Saharawi citizens from joining the demonstrators, who claimed the immediate withdrawal of the colonisers and the organisation of the self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people. (SPS)
