Mohamed Abdelaziz warns that the situation in the region is "explosive"

Caracas, 04/09/2004 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, warned that the attitude of defying the international legality adopted by Morocco puts "our region in an explosive, risked and serious state", reported Venezuelan Press Agency, VENPRES.

In a statement to the press after his meeting Thursday with President Hugo Chavez in Caracas, Mr. Abdelaziz indicated that he informed his interlocutor of Moroccan "abdication" to its commitment with the UN and to international legality. Morocco he stressed is "now adopting a policy of colonisation to another country, rejecting and abdicating all the plans proposed by the UN aimed at resolving the conflict peacefully".

"I asked his (Hugo Chavez) help to save peace in the region and to intervene urgently in order to avoid a new deterioration of the situation in the zone", indicated the President of the Republic.

On another hand, he declared himself "satisfied" of been in Venezuela on behalf of his people to congratulate the President Chavez for "the victory of democracy in his country and for the results of the referendum of the 15th August", which confirmed Mr. Chavez in his post as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The Head of the State indicated that he discussed with his interlocutor the means and ways of deepening the diplomatic relationships with other countries of Latino-American continent, so as to "pressure Morocco to push it enforce the international resolutions".

"Been a vice-president to the African Union, I seized the occasion to inform the Venezuelan President on the situation in the African continent". "We agreed on the need of the two continents to closely collaborate and to undertake joined actions", he added. (SPS)
