AU reaffirms its support to the peace plan for the self-determination of Saharawi people

Addis Ababa, 03/07/04 (SPS) African Union (AU) reaffirmed, Friday, its support to the peace plan for the self-determination of Saharawi people, through the adoption of the report of the AU's Commission on Western Sahara’s question, reported Algerian Press Service APS.

The report deplored the attitude of Morocco, which persists in its rejection of UN's peace plan, recalling that this same plan, called peace plan for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara, is unanimously adopted by UN's Security Council.

AU's Executive Council, studying the evolution of the file during its meetings held between the 30th June and 2 July, has in addition called the parties to the conflict, Morocco and Polisario Front, to enforce the UN's peace plan conforming to Security Council's resolutions 1495 and 1541.

It should be recalled that Saharawi Minster of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, started to Addis Ababa to take part to the preparatory woks to the AU's summit, which will be held from the 06 to the 08 July. (SPS)

Graduation of a new platoon of Saharawi Liberation Army

Chahid El Hafed, (refugees camps) 03/07/04 (SPS) the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, chaired the graduation ceremony of a new platoon of sub officers and soldiers of saharawi liberation army, Thursday in Chahid El Ouli military school.

"This event intervenes to express the necessity of maintaining the readiness and efficiency of our national liberation army, which is the guarantee of our choices and established realisations, and is in addition an address to the friends and to the enemy that the succession is always guaranteed by the new generation, which showed its determination to continue our people's legitimate struggle for its independence and legitimate rights", said military school’s director, Mohamed Salem Abdellah, in his address.

On his part, the Minister of Defence, Mohamed Lamine El Bouhali, stressed in his intervention in the ceremony on "the duty of each to stay vigilant in this sensitive period of our struggle for independence, characterised by the last political development of our national cause within the UN", referring to the resignation of the former personal envoy of UN’s Secretary General, and to the political importance of the last ministerial official visits from Spain and the European Union last month.

The High Commander of armed forces, Mohamed Abdelaziz, took part to the ceremony accompanied by the President of the Parliament, Mahfoud Ali Baiba, besides members of the National Secretariat, Government, elected local representatives, delegations from national institutions and Wilayas and officers of Minurso and from Algeria.

The platoon undertook a military parade to salute the President of the Republic and the personalities accompanying him, who visited the deferent departments and sectors of this historical school after that, then they attended the new soldiers sportive exercises and shooting. (SPS)
