The Head of the State was received to the Presidential Palace by the former President of Mozambique, Joaquim Alberto Chissano, who had already visited SADR last December 2004. The meeting took place in "a warm atmosphere" and allowed the discussion of "the excellent relations" that link Mozambique and SADR since decades, it was indicated.

Asked after the meeting Mr. Abdelaziz declared to the Mozambican television that "the ties of solidarity that link the Saharawi and Mozambican peoples go back to the common struggle against colonialism for the liberation and the emancipation of the African continent".

Abdelaziz, finally, asserted that "with the President Guebuza, the ties between the two countries would be further reinforced for the good of the two peoples and for the peace in Africa".

In his speech, President Guebuza further emphasised that he "will pursue the work of his predecessor, Joaquim Chissano, and that his Government will achieve the regional and international commitments of Mozambique. He also stressed that he would remain attached to the principles of the Charters of the UN and the AU".

Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz was then invited to the luncheon offered in the Presidential Palace to the honour of the present foreign delegations. He met there with the new President of Mozambique and attended an artistic show that closed the celebrations.
