Algiers, 02/10/2005 (SPS) The Minister of State, Algerian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Bedjaoui, reaffirmed on Saturday in Algiers the engagement of his country to defend the peoples’ right to govern themselves, in particular in the cases of the Saharawi and Palestinian peoples, underlining, underlining that Algerian diplomacy has always "transmitted in constant faithfulness the solidarity of Algeria with all just cause world wide", reported Algerian Press Agency, APS.
Algéria "can not turn the back to the principle represented in the engagement in favour of the peoples’ inalienable right to govern themselves, in Palestine as well as in Western Sahara, to the common Arab action and to the integration in Africa", he declared in his intervention on the occasion of a seminary of Algerian Ambassadors and diplomats recently designated for posts abroad, which was organised in the "Cercle national de l'armée" in Algiers.
On his side, the Head of the Algerian Government, Mr. Ahmed Ouyahya, reiterated, during the same occasion, "the constant attachment of Algeria to an orthodox settlement of the question of Western Sahara on the basis of the UN’s resolutions and within the framework of the exercise by the Saharawi people of their right to self-determination".
He underlined, on another hand, that his country is determined to promote relations with Morocco, "aside from bargaining or confusing of problems".
The Head of the Algerian diplomacy, M. Mohamed Bedjaoui, underlined last September the 20th in his speech before of the 60th session of the UN’s General Assembly held in New York, that his country considers the Baker Plan as a "the only pertinent framework to realise" the decolonisation of Western Sahara, and fully supports the UN’s efforts in this respect,.
"The settlement of the conflict of Western Sahara, within the international conformity will have as a positive effect to decisively impulse the construction of the great Maghreb Arab", he stressed, recalling that conflict’s settlement is a major preoccupation for the African Union (AU), who has always supported international legality and Saharawi people’s right to self-determination. SPS The National Conference for the good governance hails Saharawis’ struggle in the occupied territories of Western Sahara

Chahid El Hafed, 02/10/2005 (SPS) The National Conference for the
promotion of good governance hailed Saharawi people’ struggle in the occupied
territories are "the first lines of the struggle" now via the popular intifada,
the main front of the struggle with the enemy, indicates a message that
concluded this conference that was held Saturday in the "27th
February School" under the presidency of the Head of the Stat, Mohamed
Abdelaziz.
"The Occupied territories are now the main fields of the direct confrontation with the enemy via many forms of resistance within the framework of the popular intifada", the message underlined.
An action "on which the pressures and challenges of the enemy broke and which got stronger in the face of the fierce campaigns of repression, imprisonments and tortures exercised by the Moroccan colonial authorities", the text added.
"The glorious struggle of the hunger strike, as one of the effluents of this Intifada and which was undertaken by 37 Saharawi political prisoner for 51 day, constitutes the most eloquent proof on the consecration of this process of struggle that will continue until the independence and the withdrawal of the Moroccan colonial forces from our sacred land", the message wrote.
The
National for the promotion of good governance was attended by many members of
the National Secretariat, Government, Parliamentarians, Walis, Mayors and
Polisario Front’s and SADR’s elite. It closed its works with the adoption of
measures that would increase the participation of the population in the
management of their affairs within a framework of democracy and transparency.

SPS The family of a Saharawi human rights’ activist subjected to new intimidations

El Aaiun, 02/09/2005 (SPS) The family of the President of the Committee
for the Defence of the Prisoners of the carcel Negra (Black Jail), Mr. Bazeid
Salek, was subjected to intimidation by the Moroccan forces of occupation
under the orders of the famous Moroccan torturer, Ichi Abouhassane, Chief of
the Group of Urba Security (GUS), indicated concordant sources.
"Last Friday at about 17.00 GMT a groups of Moroccan secret agents and paramilitary soldiers, under commend of the famous Moroccan torturer, Ichi Abouhassane, of the GUS, preceded to the harassment and intimidation against the members of the family of Bazeid. This family, it should be recalled was subjected to harassment and ill-treatment by the colonial authorities many times, of which the last was last August 2005 when all the family was brutally forced by Moroccan services to leave its vacation camp in El Aaiun Beach", one of the sources indicated.
The Saharawi human rights activist, Mr. Bazeid, is an ex-political prison rand President of a Committee for the defence of the prisoners in the Carcel Negra. He was ill-treated many times by agents of GUS, especially during the demonstrations of the Intifada of independence, which started last May, it should be recalled. (SPS)
