Birlehlu (Liberated Territories), September 13, 2015 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, sent Sunday letter of congratulations to Mr. Jeremy Corbyn on the winning of the British Labour Party elections, whose results were released Saturday.
"Allow me on behalf of the leadership of the Polisario Front and the Saharawi people, to convey to you my sincere congratulations and through you to all members of the British Labour Party, the new elected leadership and the British people on the occasion of your election as the new leader of the Labour party, " wrote the Secretary General of the Polisario Front in his letter to the new leader of the British Labour Party.
President Mohamed Abdelaziz considered "that the election of Mr. Corbyn right now is recognition for his spirit of honesty, solidarity and human values".
"The support of Mr. Corbyn to the struggle of the Saharawi people to self-determination has always been constant through several written questions via the Parliamentary Group for Western Sahara within the British Parliament, and the visit of the first British parliamentary delegation to the occupied territories of Western Sahara from 13 to 16 February 2014, to inquire into the serious violations of human rights committed by the Moroccan authorities of occupation against the Saharawi civilians," he recalled.
"The leadership of the Polisario Front and the Saharawi people believe that the arrival of Jeremy Corbyn at the head of the British Labour Party, will contribute to the search for a just and lasting solution to the Western Sahara conflict, which has lasted so long" underlined the President of the Republic.
The President expressed the willingness of the Polisario Front to strengthen and develop ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two organizations and peoples, recalling that "the Polisario Front has always paid great attention to the friendly relations with the British Labour Party. "
Mr. Corbyn was known as a fervent defender of the struggle of the Saharawi people for self-determination and independence. He led the parliamentary group for Western Sahara, which includes 20 members of all British parties, including the Conservative Party, it should be recalled. (SPS)
