Spanish political forces continue efforts to make Government return to international position on Sahrawi issue

Madrid, 25 April 2022 (SPS) - The Secretary-General of the Spanish Communist Party, Enrique Santiago, reaffirmed Sunday the determination of all political forces under Spain's Unidas Podemos to continue on pressure Madrid to return to the ranks of the international community and abide by the decisions of the Spanish House of Representatives in defence of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination, in line with United Nations resolutions.
In a meeting with the representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, Abdullah Al-Arabi, at the Polisario Front’s representation headquarters in Madrid, Secretary of State for the Spanish government, Enrique Santiago, stressed “there is no position outside the positions of the Spanish official bodies, and there is no deviation from what the Spanish House of Representatives clearly and unequivocally adopted.” Accordingly, and on this basis,” the Spanish official explained “it is inevitable that the Sahrawi Republic is recognized today by more than 80 countries around the world.”
For his part, the representative of the Polisario in Spain commended what the Spanish Secretary of State on behalf of the Communist Party expressed about the positions of solidarity of the latter throughout the Sahrawi people's march for independence.
The Sahrawi diplomat clarified that contacts are currently taking place with all the Spanish political forces and various organizations to get the central government return to the position of the United Nations.
