Addis Ababa, 7 February 2022 (SPS) - African Union (AU) Summit, held Sunday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, suspended the decision of the African Commission' chairman, Moussa Faki, to grant an observer status to the Zionist entity and set up a committee made up of the leaders of seven African countries, including Algeria, to make a recommendation to the AU Summit about the issue.
The decision adopted by consensus by the Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government provides for the suspension of the decision taken by the chairman of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki, last July 22nd, to grant the observer status to the Zionist entity.
The decision also provides for the creation of a committee of seven African heads of State to make a recommendation to the African Union Summit, which remains seized of the matter.
The committee will be made up of President Macky Sall of Senegal, in his capacity as the current chairman of the AU, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President Muhammadu Bouhari of Nigeria, President Paul Biya of Cameroon and President Felix Tshisekedi of DR Congo.
President Macky Sall will take the initiative of launching the works of the seven-leader committee.
