ISACOM pleads for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination

Occupied Aaiun, 03 August 2021 (SPS) - The Saharawi body against the Moroccan occupation (ISACOM) pleaded for the inalienable right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, independence and freedom, calling on the UN to exert pressure on Morocco to bring it to an end to its violations of the rights of Saharawi civilians.
The body noted, in its second periodic report on the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, for the period from December 11, 2020 to June 30, 2021, the violations of civil and political rights in the region. image of political trials and arbitrary arrests, the use of force to suppress peaceful protests, torture and mistreatment of human rights activists.
ISACOM recalled, in its report, the violations of the economic and social rights of the Saharawi people such as the rights to self-determination, to the free disposal of their natural resources, to sovereignty over their wealth, to work, to education and participation in cultural life.
In this context, ISACOM pleaded for the inalienable rights of the Saharawi people to self-determination, independence and freedom, since they are enshrined in international law, adding that this is the only way out to achieve the decolonization of Western Sahara, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
