UN statements on blockage of process target Morocco

Submitted on

Algiers, 28 November 2020 (SPS) - Ambassador of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (Rasd) to Algeria Abdelkader Taleb Omar said Wednesday that the new statements made by the Spokesman for the United Nations (UN) Secretary General on the need to remove all obstacles to the resumption of negotiations targeted Morocco.
“The statements made by Stéphane Dujarric on the elimination of all obstacles to the resumption of the political process between Morocco and the Polisario Front target Morocco and the UN. Now, Morocco and the UN hinder the organization of a self determination referendum in Western Sahara,” said the ambassador.
“Morocco hinder poses obstacles to the negotiation process. It violates international law by opening embassies in the Sahrawi occupied territories,” affirmed the diplomat.
Taleb points out “the inaction and laxity of the UN” that is slow to appoint a personal envoy and must “denounce Morocco’s aggression.”
The ambassador reaffirmed “the determination of the Sahrawi people to pursue the struggle until independence because they have been waiting for 29 years. They cannot for more now.”
Their struggle against Morocco is seen as a “legitimate defence and a determination to apply international legality.” (SPS)
