Sahrawi government: Moroccan sovereign’s speech crammed with untruth, fact distortion

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), 9 November 2020 (SPS) -The Sahrawi government affirmed that the Sahrawi people’s right to exercise self-determination “ can’t under any circumstances be seized,” in its response to the Moroccan King’s speech which is, according to it, crammed with untruth and distortion of facts.
In a statement released Saturday by the Information Ministry, the Sahrawi government underlined that the speech of the Moroccan king was made to “remind once again the international community that the expansionist kingdom of Morocco is still attacking its Southern neighbor, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), and continues flouting the international legality.”
Morocco’s King “even tried to pass a reading contrary to the reality of a cause considered by the United Nations as a decolonization cause, by hiding deliberately the only legal characteristic of the Moroccan presence in Western Sahara, i.e. an illegal occupation, as it was confirmed by the General Assembly during its sessions of 1979 and 1980,” added the source.
“This speech, full of arrogance, untruth and distortion of facts, was broadcast on the occasion of the anniversary of the Moroccan military invasion of Western Sahara in 1975, in order to annex it by force, kill its people and plunder its wealth,” added the source.
For the Sahrawi Government, “the Moroccan sovereign has, as usual, broached in his speech, an outdated vision, distorted concrete truths and repeated with redundancy uncompromising and thoughtless positions, although it knows full well that the international community doesn’t recognize the Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara.” (SPS)
