Submitted on

Madrid, June 8, 2020 (SPS) - The Communist Party of Spain has rejected the decision of the Spanish Supreme Court "because it means a further degree in the escalation of the issue of decolonization of the Territory of Western Sahara and represents a grievance to the Saharawi people and a disgrace to all of us."
In a press release published on its website, the Spanish political group “strongly requests the Spanish authorities to provide the legal protection, or otherwise, necessary to the inhabitants of the territory of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco and  to the Sahrawi refugees in Algerian soul "
The Spanish party demands justice for the Saharawi people and asks for recognition of the SADR and the Frente POLISARIO as the sole representative of the Saharawi people.
The Frente POLISARIO through its Delegate in Spain, Abdulah Arabi has criticized the political background of the decision, highlighting that "Spain cannot avoid its responsibility towards the Sahrawis" and its obligations in "one of the 17 non-autonomous territories that appear on the UN list as pending decolonization.
