United States: NGOs call for end of Western Sahara occupation

Submitted on

Washington, March 2, 2019 (SPS) - A group of US and international NGOs (non-governmental organizations) urged on Wednesday Morocco’s King to end Western Sahara occupation and recognize Saharawi People’s right to self-determination.
In a letter addressed to the Moroccan king Mohamed VI, NGOs asked Morocco to withdraw its military forces and administrative authorities from the occupied Sahrawi territories.
The letter, signed by several NGOs, academics, formers in the congress and the state department and by hundreds of Sahrawi associations, was handed Wednesday at the Morocco’s Embassy in Washington by President of the Defence Forum Foundation Suzanne Sholte and Nonviolence International Executive Director Michael Beer.
