Submitted on

New York, August 6, 2018 (SPS) - United Nations Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler will brief the Security Council on his recent visit to the region to relaunch negotiations between Polisario Front and Morocco.
Former Germany's president will inform the Security Council about his recent activities, according to the Council's monthly forecasts for August.
The meeting will be held behind closed doors, while the final statement will be read to the press by the Council's president for August, Karen Pierce (UK).
Wednesday's meeting would be Kohler's second briefing since his appointment as the UN Secretary General's personal envoy for Western Sahara.
In his first briefing in March, the UN envoy explained his mission, which consists in finding a solution to the conflict through the resumption of direct negotiations, at the standstill since 2012, between the two parties to the conflict, Morocco and Polisario Front. (SPS)
