Horst Kohler meets Saharawi negotiating delegation

Chahid El Hafed, June 26, 2018 (SPS) - The Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Western Sahara, Horst Kohler, met Tuesday members of the Saharawi negotiating delegation at the guest house in Chahid El Hafed.

After the meeting, the head of the negotiating delegation, Khatri Aduh, expressed in a statement to the Sahrawi media the support of the Saharawi side for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy to the Western Sahara, Mr. Kohler, as well as the efforts of the United Nations to achieve a just solution to the cause of Sahrawi people

Khatri Aduh emphasized that Morocco is required to lift all obstacles especially that "the latest resolution 2414 of the UN Security Council, stressed the need for the parties to enter into negotiations without preconditions and in good faith."

The meeting comes as part of a new tour of Mr. Kohler, the second since he took office, with the aim of resuming the negotiating process between the Frente POLISARIO and the Kingdom of Morocco in order to find a solution that enables the Saharawi people to self-determination.

The UNSG Personal Envoy has began his tour to the region in Algeria where he was received by Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia and Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel. then to the Mauritanian where he was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, Foreign Minister Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
