Submitted on

Algiers, May 19, 2018 (SPS) - The Polisario Front will celebrate Sunday, in Tifariti, in the Sahrawi liberated territories the 45th anniversary of the outbreak of the Sahrawi armed struggle against the Moroccan occupation forces, a date which comes in a particular context marked by several diplomatic and legal victories snatched by the Sahrawi people, fighting for their right to self-determination.
The commemoration of this historic date will be organized under the patronage of President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Polisario Front Brahim Ghali in the presence of Sahrawi authorities alongside delegations representing several countries, organizations and associations of civil society.
According to the organizers, it is expected to hold a series of commemorative activities in the liberated territories, including military and civil parades as well as exhibitions featuring the Sahrawi armed struggle against the forces of the Moroccan occupation.
The 20 May 1973 remains a historic date for the Sahrawi people who decided, on that day, to take up arms to snatch their independence from the Spanish occupation and then Morocco, which invaded the Sahrawi territories in 1975. (SPS)
