Abjdjan, Dec 1, 2017 (SPS) -President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Polisario Front Brahim Ghali affirmed Thursday that Western Sahara’s participation in the 5th African Union-European Union Summit in Abidjan was “a victory for the Sahrawi people and their just cause.”
In a statement on the sidelines of the 5th AU-EU partnership Summit in Abidjan, the Sahrawi president said that “Africa’s unified position and the commitment of member countries to the Constitutive Act thwarted Morocco’s attempts to exclude SADR and proved showed Africans Morocco’s malicious intention to dislocate African unity."
SADR President also hailed “the consensual position of African countries on the participation of AU member countries to any partnership between African and its partners.”
“This position shows to the whole world and all partners that SADR cannot be ignored as a permanent founding member of the AU.”
Speaking on the sidelines of the Summit, Deputy Minister and Advisor to the Sahrawi Presidency Bashir Mustapha Sayed said that what happened at the Summit would "lead to appeasement in the region and boost the building of the Great Arab Maghreb with Western Sahara.”
SADR’s participation in this meeting is "an achievement and a victory for the Saharawi cause," he said. (SPS)
