UN reaffirms the task assigned to Koehler by the Security Council

New York (USA), Nov 08, 2017 (SPS) – the UN New envoy to Western Sahara,  Horst Koehler is continuing the task of mediating in Western Sahara, which has been mandated by the Security Council, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Tuesday.
"The Security Council has assigned the Personal Envoy and MINURSO a mission and we will continue this mission and continue our work," Antonio Guterres’s spokesman, told a news briefing.
"I will not comment on the King's speech," Dugaric said, referring to Koehler's and UN reaction to the recent speech by King Mohammed VI. "The tasks of Koehler and MINURSO have been determined by the Security Council.
Horst Koehler is expected to meet on November 22 in New York to present to the Security Council the results of his first regional tour in the region to revive the UN track.
The last meeting of the Frente POLISARIO and Morocco dates back to March 2012, with six of them in the United States.
Since then, the United Nations peace process in deadlock  because of the obstacles Morocco has put in place to prevent the settlement of the conflict on the basis of the principles of international legality guaranteeing the Saharawi people's right to self-determination. SPS
