SADR's participation in the African Health Conference frustrates Morocco's intentions

Submitted on

Cairo, Egypt Sept 27, 2017 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) is represented by a delegation of the Ministry of Health at the expert-level consultative meeting of North African countries, with a view to discussing mechanisms to promote the activities of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The meeting sponsored by the Commission of the African Union was marked by Moroccan maneuvers to prevent the participation of the SADR, through the invasion of the meeting room by Moroccan diplomats, who occupied the seats of the delegations that did not arrive in the room. The delegation from Rabat threatened to frustrate the meeting, in protest of the presence of the Saharawi delegation.

In this regard, during the speech of the representative of the Ministry of Health of the SADR, Bachir Saleh Ramadan, the Moroccan delegation, shouted and applauded, ignoring the requests of the presidency of the event.

Diplomatic sources told the SPS correspondent in the African Union that "the Commission's decision to ignore the conduct of Moroccan diplomats frustrated the new Moroccan diplomacy strategy, leading them to abandon the event in their second day, after losing hope in expelling the Saharawi delegation. "

At the African Union headquarters, multiple diplomats expressed their astonishment at the continuing provocation of Morocco and the lack of coherence between the king's speech and the attitudes of his diplomats in international forums. SPS
