Polisario Front calls for full re-establishment of MINURSO in El Guerguerat in accordance with Security Council resolution 2351

Bir-Lehlu (Liberated Zones), 4 June 2017 (SPS) The Polisario Front has informed the United Nations of the delay in the presence of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in El Guerguerat in accordance with the letter and spirit of the April Security Council resolution.
In an official protest submitted Saturday by Saharawi coordinator with MINURSO, Mhamed Khaddad, the Polisario Front informed the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, MINURSO Chief Kim Bolduc, of the need to the presence of the Mission in El Guerguerat pursuant to Security Council resolution 2351.
"After more than a month of this resolution of the UN Security Council no presence has been noticed of MINURSO in the buffer zone of El Guergarat," said Mr. Khaddad, regretting the arrest of the Moroccan forces of occupation in the same area of Saharawi citizen Baba Ahmed Haidalla, preventing him for a few days from entering the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
Mr. Khadad called for the immediate release of Saharawi citizen Ahmed Baba Haidalla and unrestricted access to the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
It should be recalled that the situation in the El Guerguerat area was at the center of the discussions of the Security Council in April, which resulted in the renewal of the mandate of MINURSO and the need for a permanent presence of the MINURSO in the area, considering that last year's crisis in El Guerguerat area "raises fundamental questions related to the ceasefire and relevant agreements and urged the Secretary-General to explore ways of resolving it."
