Gali discusses peace process blockade with UK Security Council Presidency

New York, March 21,  2017 (SPS)  - Saharawi President Brahim Gali discussed on Monday in New York the blockade of the peace process in Western Sahara with the British presidency of the Security Council.
 
The Saharawi Head of State informed the British Presidency of the position of the Polisario Front on the whole peace process and the obstacles that this process is having as a result of Morocco's policy of obstruction on the ground, representative of the Frente POLISARIO to the UN, Ahmed Boukhari told APS.
 
Mr. Ghali reiterated the commitment of the POLISARIO to cooperate with the United Nations in order to put the peace process on track, he added.
 
The Saharawi President stressed the urgent need for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities to end the blockade imposed by Morocco on UN efforts and its provocations on the ground, particularly in the El Guergarat area. "He said.
 
President Sahrawi met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last Friday to review the UN's efforts to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara and ways to speed up the process. Implementation of the UN-AU settlement plan for a referendum on the self-determination of the Saharawi people .SPS
