41st anniversary of SADR Proclamation: President Bouteflika congratulates Sahrawi counterpart

Algiers, Feb 27, 2017 (SPS) – Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has sent a message of congratulations to Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), in which he reaffirmed Algeria's willingness to "pursue its efforts to allow the Sahrawi people exercise its right to self-determination through a free and fair message."
"While the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic celebrates the 41st anniversary of its Proclamation, I am pleased to extend on behalf of the Algerian people and government and on my own behalf our warm congratulations and best wishes to you and the brotherly Sahrawi people," President Bouteflika wrote in a message. 
"The date of 27 February 1976 is a major historic step in the Sahrawi people's struggle to recover its lands and sovereignty," said President Bouteflika.
"I am convinced the brotherly Sahrawi people will continue its struggle to recover its legitimate rights in accordance with international legality," wrote President Bouteflika, stressing that "the international community must assume its responsibilities and speed up the resolution of the Sahrawi issue under the aegis of the United Nations to allow the Sahrawi people exercise its right to self-determination."  
"Besides, I would like to reiterate Algeria's unswerving support to your cause and its willingness to pursue its efforts to hold a free and fair referendum that allows the Sahrawi people exercise its self-determination right under the aegis of the UN, and in accordance with the UN Security Council's decisions," said President Bouteflika. 
"On this joyous occasion, I reiterate our brotherly congratulations and heartfelt wishes to you, the Sahrawi authorities and the brotherly Sahrawi people," wrote President Bouteflika. (SPS)
