Lisbon (Portugal), October 05, 2016 (SPS) - The deputy Carla Cruz of the Parliamentary Group of PCP and member of the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs and Portuguese Communities addressed a question, Tuesday, to the Portuguese government on "the situation of Saharawi political prisoners Gdeim Izik group ".

Portuguese MEP said that according to the information sent to the Parliamentary Group of PCP, political prisoners of Gdeim Izik were transferred last August 31 to the prison in El Arjat more than 1,200 kilometers away from the occupied territories which precludes their visit from their families.

After referring to the precarious health of political prisoners, Carla Cruz asks the Portuguese Government if they have information or will request information with other international institutions on the conditions of detention of political prisoners Gdeim Izik.

It should be noted that since the dismantling of Gdeim Izik Camp and subsequent arbitrary detention and abduction of Saharawi political prisoners have already been several parliamentary initiatives on this matter PCP. SPS
