NEPAD extends condolences over President Mohamed Abdelaziz’s passing away

Addis Ababa, June 5, 2016 (SPS) - NEPAD Agency Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki has expressed profound condolences over the passing away Tuesday of president of Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, considering it a great loss for the Sahrawi people and for the peoples of Africa, in a letter to Speaker of the National Council, the acting President of the Republic, Khatri Adouh.
The full text of the letter:
“I wish to extend, on behalf of the NEPAD Agency, my sincere condolences following the death of H.E. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
This is a great loss for the Sahrawi people and for the peoples of Africa. As one of the cofounders and serving Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, President Abdelaziz lived his life dedicated to the liberation of Western Sahara and the self-determination of the Sahrawi people.
As you may know, the NEPAD Agency had scheduled a courtesy visit to the SADR this month, June 2016, and we stand ready in solidarity to honour this commitment when the leadership deems appropriate, with the ultimate aim of transforming Africa.
Once again our sincere condolences, strength, and consideration to the government and peoples of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, and to the Abdelaziz family.
