Ciudadanos calls Spanish government to shoulder its historic responsibilities towards the Saharawi people

Madrid (Spain), April 12, 2016 (SPS) – the Spanish Party Ciudadanos has called the Spanish State to shoulder the historic responsibility towards the Saharawi people, urging it to work hard at the level of the European Union and other international forums to put an end to the conflict and the decolonization of Western Sahara.
 
 
¨the Kingdom of Spain should exploit its non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council of the United Nations, in order to give firm support to the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross¨. Ciudadanos said
 
The said party has submitted a new draft resolution to the House of Representatives urging the Spanish central government to push all the political initiatives to reach a just and definitive solution to the Western Sahara conflict by organizing a referendum on self-determination.
 
Ciudadanos renewed its recognition of the Polisario Front as the legitimate representative of the Saharawi people, appealing the Spanish government to grant diplomatic status to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia el-Hamra and Oro, Spain. SPS
