Faculty of Political Sciences in Ljubljana organizes debate on Western Sahara

Ljubljana, 20 March 2016 (SPS) - At the initiative of the Student Club of the Political Sciences Faculty in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Saharawi Representation organized on Friday a debate entitled "Western Sahara: Between Interest , law and reality," in the same Faculty, according to a press release of the POLISARIO Representation in Slovenia.



The event was attended by ambassadors, teachers, media, students of international relations and a large representation of the Slovenian civil society.

The Conference was attended by Former Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and MEP Ivo Vajgl, Dr. Hubert Hollmuller, professor at the University of Carinthia (Austria), Dr. Vasilka Sancin, professor at the Faculty of Law of Ljubljana, Malainin Bagada, Representative of the Frente POLISARIO in Slovenia and RTVSLO journalist, Helena Milinkovic.



Mr. Vajgl stressed that the EU must take a great responsibility in the conflict in Western Sahara and that the Slovenian government must show a more active policy in the case of Western Sahara. He denounced the violations of human rights in the occupied territories, wondering why Slovenia does not recognize the Saharawi Republic.



For his part, Professor Hollmuller spoke about the situation in the refugee camps and highlighted the good organization and the important role of women in the management of the Wilayas and Dairas of the SADR.

The Saharawi Representative spoke about the latest developments regarding the peace process, the visit of Ban Ki-Moon to the refugee camps and the liberated areas, and the direct confrontation between Morocco and the UN and its Secretary General, and with the EU and the AU. (SPS)
