New York, 28 August 2021 (SPS) - The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, announced on Friday that he has appointed Alexander Ivanko of the Russian Federation as the new Special Representative for Western Sahara and head of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
Alexander Ivanko succeeds the Canadian Colin Stewart.

Dominica. 27 August 2021 (SPS)- Frente Polisario Representative to the UN, Ambassador Sidi M. Omar, stressed in a statement before the Regional Seminar organized by the Special committee on Decolonization (C-24) in Dominica Thursday, that the only option for peace in Western Sahara is for the international community to defend the fundamental principles, mainly the right of all peoples to self-determination and independence and the non-acquisition of territory by the use of force as Morocco is trying to do in this last colony in Africa.

Bir Lehlu (Sahrawi Republic), August 26, 2021 (SPS) - The Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) launched new concentrated attacks against the positions of the Moroccan occupation forces in the sectors of Mahbes, Hauza, Guelta and Auserd.
According to War Report No. 287 made public by the Ministry of National Defense, units of our army increased their attacks against enemy soldiers positioned in the regions of Angab Al-Abd, Angab Labreiga and Taref Labreiga, in the Hauza sector.

Bir Lehlu (Sahrawi Republic), August 24, 2021 (SPS) - The units of the Saharawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) shelled the positions of the Moroccan occupation forces at various points along the Wall of Shame.
According to War Report No. 286 issued by the Ministry of National Defense, advanced detachments of our army launched heavy and concentrated bombardments on Tuesday against the positions of the Moroccan occupation forces, causing panic and fear in the ranks of the soldiers in the Sabjat Tanuchad and Lagaad regions, in the Mahbes sector.

AU PSC reaffirms principle of inviolability of borders

Addis Ababa, 21 August 2021 (SPS) - The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (PSC) has reaffirmed the intangibility of borders inherited at independence during the settlement of border disputes in the African continent, said a statement issued Friday.
In a communiqué sanctioning the work of its 1024th meeting held at ministerial level, the PSC reiterates "the importance of transforming borders into catalysts of integration and national, regional and continental development.

According to War Report No. 278 issued by the Ministry of National Defense, yesterday, Sunday, units of the Saharawi army carried out concentrated bombardments against enemy positions in the Udei Gararat Lahdid region, in the Farsía sector.

Brussels, 14 August 2021 (SPS) - Representative of the Polisario Front to Europe and the European Union Abi Bouchraya Bachir underlined Friday that the Front is determined, especially as the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has confirmed Morocco’s non-sovereignty over Western Sahara, to lodge complaints against the European companies involved in the plundering of the Sahrawi people’s resources.
