President of National Council meets with his Cuban counterpart, establishment of Cuban parliamentary committee for friendship with Saharawi people

Havana, July 16, 2017 (SPS) – President of the National Council, Khatri Addouh, received on Saturday by his Cuban counterpart Esteban Lazo Hernández, accompanied by the leadership of the Cuban Parliament and members of the Cuban Parliamentary Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi Republic.
The Cuban parliament had unanimously approved, on Friday, the establishment of a Cuban parliamentary committee to defend the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence and to promote bilateral relations between the Saharawi and Cuban peoples.

Algerian Prime Minister reiterates unwavering support to Saharawi cause

Algiers, 16 July 2017 (SPS) - Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmajid Tebboune  has reaffirmed the firm position of the Algerian government in support of the just cause of the Saharawi people.
The Algerian Prime Minister expressed in a letter to his Sahrawi counterpart, Abdelkader Taleb-Omar, his gratitude for the congratulatory message he received from the latter following his appointment. 

European Parliament: Intergroup on Western Sahara expresses solidarity with Saharawi students detained in Oudaya

Brussels, July 15, 2017 (SPS) - The Intergroup on Western Sahara in the European Parliament on Saturday expressed its solidarity with Saharawi students held in Oudaya, sentenced to heavy prison terms, urging the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini to take action to ensure that their rights are respected and the sentences pronounced against them "annulled".

Welcome to new Sahrawi Ambassador with Special Mission to Peru

Lima, Peru, July 15, 2017 (SPS) - The Peruvian Council of Solidarity with the Sahrawi Republic has welcomed Khadijetu Mokhtar, Saharawi Ambassador with the Special Mission to Peru.
The event was attended by journalists, intellectuals, national and foreign diplomats and congressmen, who expressed solidarity with the Sahrawi people and condemned Morocco's violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
The participants pledged to initiate actions so that the government of Peru restores diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Republic.

Gdeim Izik prisoners call for their rights and freedom

Paris, July 14, 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group, detained at Salé prison (Morocco), have called for restoring their rights and freedom before the long-awaited verdict of the Rabat court of appeal, which postponed the sixth and final phase of the trial to 18 July.

Naples, Italy, July 12, 2017 (SPS) - The mayor of the Italian city of Naples and the Speaker of his local parliament reiterated Tuesday, in a joint act at the city hall, his unconditional support for the struggle of the Saharawi people for their self-determination and independence.
The event organized to welcome the Saharawi children of the Vocation in Peace program was attended by the local authorities of the Naples region, headed by the mayor of the city and the Speaker of his parliament.

Sit-in in Bilbao in support of Saharawi political prisoners

Bilbao, July 12, 2017 (SPS) – the Sahrawi Abroad Community in The Basque city of Bilbao has Tuesday organized sit-in in support for Saharawi political prisoners before the Moroccan consulate in that said city.
The solidarity sit-in witnessed the participation of associations, trade unions, political parties, Saharawi children from the Vocation in Peace Program and the Saharawi community in the city has condemned the harsh sentences of the Sahrawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group and their miserable situation in prisons Moroccans.

Ministers Council warns of Moroccan drug spread danger and its consequences in the region

Trial of Gdeim Izik group postponed by one week

Rabat, July 12, 2017. (SPS) - The trial of the Saharawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group has been postponed Tuesday to July 18 for the sixth consecutive time, media reported.
The sixth and final phase of the trial of the twenty-four Saharawi political prisoners started in the morning at the Criminal Chamber attached to annexe of the Court of Appeal in Sale (Morocco).

Sahrawi students in Agadir renew their solidarity with Sahrawi political prisoners

It included more than 140 Sahrawi students who gathered on Sunday evening in the university district, according to a media source from the occupied territories.

Sahrawi government hails AU's commitment to contribute to resolution of Morocco-Polisario Front conflict

Algiers, July 10, 2017 (SPS) - Saharawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Essalek hailed the decision taken by the African Union (AU) to revive African mechanisms aiming to help resolve the conflict between Morocco and the Saharawi Republic, stressing that the recent positions of the organization taken last week during the summit in Addis Ababa were "judicious and logical.
He advocated the respect of the legitimate rights of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

Cuba awards baccalaureate students university study

Shaheed El-Hafed, July 10, 2017 (SPS) - The Republic of Cuba has awarded the opportunity to study at the university to the 2017 baccalaureate students of national school Simon Bolivar in Sahrawi refugee camps.
“This step comes as a fruitful result following the visit of the President of the Republic Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, to the friendly Republic of Cuba in order to expand cooperation between the two countries in the field of education,” indicated the Ministry of Education in a statement.

Swedish delegation on visit to Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El-Hafed, July 9, 2017 (SPS) -  Swedish delegation of World Education started Saturday a visit in Sahrawi refugee camps that will last for 10 days.
The delegation will visit the wilayas and institutions of the Sahrawi Republic and meet with members of National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and SADR government, in order to find out about the situation of the Sahrawi refugees to raise awareness about their plight.
