Malaga Municipal Group for People calls for promoting solidarity with Saharawi people and recognizing SADR

Madrid, June 18, 2017 (SPS) - Malaga Municipal Group for the People has just called in a motion tabled at the Municipal Council of Malaga to promote solidarity with the Saharawi people and to recognize the legitimate government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
This political group also proposes, in its motion reported by the press, to recognize the Polisario Front as the sole and legitimate representative of the Saharawi people recognized by the UN and to give it diplomatic status in Spain.

Sahrawi Gdeim Izik group subject to unfair trial, international organizations say

Rabat, June 16, 2017 (SPS) - The appeal proceedings of the Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group continued Thursday in Sale (Rabat) at a time when an international campaign is led to denounce the serious violations against the 24 political prisoners who are subject to an unfair trial.
 
The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Sale resumed on June 5 the examination of the trial of these 24 political prisoners after four adjournments.
 

Sahrawi Ambassador in Mexico is received by Mexican Pachuca province local authorities

Pachuca, Mexico, June 15, 2017 (SPS) - The Mexican Ambassador to Mexico, Mr. Ahmed Moulay, received the highest honor from the Mayor of Pachuca, Mexico, Yolanda Thieria, in the presence of some of the authorities and staff of the municipality.
The visit of Sahrawi diplomat comes at the invitation of the mayor, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations between the Saharawi Republic and the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, which is the capital of Pachuca.
 

French NGO ACAT asks French president to address in Morocco Gdeim Izik prisoners affairs

Paris, June 15, 2017 (SPS) - The French organization ACAT asked the French president, Emanuel Macron, through a communiqué to include in his agenda in Morocco, the issue of Saharawi political prisoners, especially the group of Gdeim Izik.
The organization said that it had submitted multiple documents to international rapporteurs, denouncing the trial of Gdeim Izik's group, drawing attention to the fact that the evidence was based on statements obtained under torture.

Decolonization Committee adopts two resolutions on Non-Self-Governing Territories

New York, June 15, 2017 (SPS) - The UN Special Committee on Decolonization unanimously adopted two resolutions on the dissemination of information on Non-Self-Governing Territories.
The first project, "Information on Non-Self-Governing Territories", was presented by the president of the 24th Committee, the Venezuelan Rafael Ramírez. In this proposal, the document indicates the need for the administering power of the territories in question to periodically inform the Secretary-General of the UN on the economic and social situation of the territories.

POLISARIO invites UN Decolonization Committee to visit Western Sahara territory

New York, June 14, 2017 (SPS) - The Frente POLISARIO invited the Decolonization Committee, through its representative in United Nations, Mr. Bujari Ahmed, to visit the territory to be able to know the reality on the ground, stating in the same time the POLISARIO's willingness to cooperate with all the missions they want to visit.
