Protest in Madrid for release of Gdeim Izik prisoners

Madrid, 17 January 2017 (SPS)  - The Spanish Coordination of Associations Supporting Sahrawi People (CEAS-Sahara), will stage a protest in Madrid, Spain, on 23 January to urge Moroccan authorities to release the Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group.

Western Sahara: EUCOCO welcomes decision of ECJ, calls for its application

Paris,17 January 2017 (SPS)  - The Task Force of the European Coordination Conference for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) welcomed the decision of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) which "clearly" stated that Western Sahara, a non-autonomous territory, was occupied by its neighbor Morocco, demanding its application by the European Union countries.

Moroccan court issues unfair ruling against human rights activist Hamadi Nassiri

Tantan (southern Morocco), January 15, 2017 (SPS) – A Moroccan Court  has issued unfair sentence in absentia against human rights activist and former Sahrawi political prisoner Hammadi Nassiri for six months and a fine of 500 dirhams, according the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.
The Sahrawi human rights activist had been subjected to verbal abuse, provocations and harassment during his return from Agadir by police checkpoint in the northern town of Tantan.

SJJA organises lectures on Western Sahara in Japan

Spanish Inter-Union Confederation calls for annulment of sentences against political prisoners of Gdeim Izik

Madrid, 14 Jan 2017 (SPS) - Spanish Inter-Union Confederation has called for the immediate annulment of the sentences pronounced by the Moroccan military court against the political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group, in a statement published on its website.
Responding to an international appeal launched by UGTSARIO, lawyers of the Spanish Confederation expressed their support to the group of more than 40 lawyers from different countries who defended Saharawi political prisoners.

Nicaraguan President reaffirms support for Saharawi people struggle

Managua (Nicaragua), January 14, 2017 (SPS) - Nicaragua's President-elect, Daniel Ortega, reiterated the unconditional support and solidarity of the Nicaraguan government for the just Saharawi cause, during his meeting with President of the Saharawi National Council, Khatri Addouh.
President Daniel Ortega stressed that "the Saharawi people have endured a long time as it struggles to complete its national sovereignty and get their civil and economic rights."

Spanish government “must get more involved” in Sahrawi cause

Madrid, Jan 13, 2017 (SPS) - The senator of the Spanish province El Hierro, Pablo Rodriguez, called the Spanish government to “get more involved” in the struggle for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination while respecting the United Nations’ resolutions relating to the organization of a referendum in Western Sahara.
In a motion, the senator called for “a more active attitude” from the Spanish authorities, while expressing his support to “the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination,” said EFE agency.

Angola reiterates support to Sahrawi people struggle

Luanda (Angola) January 13, 2017 (SPS) - Angolan Minister of War Veterans, Mr. Candido Pereira dos Santos, has reiterated his country's firm support to the just struggle of the Saharawi people. 
The Angolan official reaffirmed, on the sidelines of a meeting Friday with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Angola, Bah Sheikh,  the unwavering position of his country in support of the Saharawi people's struggle for self-determination and independence.

President of Republic concludes working visit to Zambia

Lusaka, Jan 13, 2017 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, concluded Wednesday a two-day working visit to the Republic of Zambia.
The President of the Republic and his accompanying delegation were greeted upon departure, at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, by Zambian Foreign Minister Harry Kalaba and members of the government.
During his visit, President Ghali met with his Zambian counterpart, Edgar Lungu, who offered him a dinner banquet in his honor.

Defense Minister oversees Saharawi People's Liberation Army new graduation batch

Martyr Hadad Military Base, January 12, 2017 (SPS) - the Minister of Defence, member of the National Secretariat of Frente POLSARIO, Mr. Abdlahi Lahbib has oversaw today at Martyr Hadad Military Base, the graduation of new batch of the Saharawi People's Liberation Army.
 
The ceremony of graduation, which bears the name of the martyr Abeibo Jalihnna Mohamad, was attended along with the Minister of Defense by the General Staff of the People's Army and the Staff of the said base.
 

CJEU Western Sahara: a pressure decision for the European Union

Algiers (Algeria), January 12, 2017 (SPS) - The decision of the European Union Court of Justice, whose verdict, issued on 21 December, indicates that the association and liberalization agreements between the EU and Morocco are not applicable to Western Sahara, is pressure  to the Union and its members, a senior European diplomat in Brussels said, according to the Algerian daily El Moujahid.

Jatri Adduh, representing President Brahim Gali, congratulated the Sandinista Government chaired by Commander Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, for assuming a new presidential term.

Western Sahara: European deputies call for respecting CJEU’s decision

Brussels, January 10, 2017 (SPS) - The members of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs called Monday, in Brussels, for the respect of the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) through the implementation of this judicial decision in which it concluded that the agreements of association and liberalisation between EU and Morocco are not applicable to Western Sahara.

President of Republic arrives in Lusaka on working visit to Republic of Zambia

Lusaka, January 9, 2017 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, and his accompanying delegation arrived Monday in Lusaka in the framework of a working visit to the Republic of Zambia, coming from the Republic of South Africa after a similar visit lasted three days.
The President of the Republic and his accompanying delegation were greeted at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by Zambian Foreign Minister Harry Kalaba and members of the local and regional government and authorities in the region of Lusaka.

Morocco’s drumming to join AU is to conceal its failure (Sahrawi Coordinator with MINURSO)

Shaheed El-Hafed, Jan 9, 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi Coordinator with MINURSO Emhamed Khaddad has confirmed that the drumming and propaganda of Morocco to join the African Union including the visits of its king to some African countries were to hide its concessions and failure, trying to pass them to the internal opinion as if they were victories.  
The Coordinator with MINURSO highlighted in an interview with the national TV that the Malabo joint summit between the African Union and the Arab League constituted a strong shock to Morocco of which it pulled out.
