11/11/2007 (SPS) Hundreds demonstrators demanded
self-determination for the Saharawi people, on Saturday in
Madrid, and called on the Spanish government to respect is
engagements vis-à-vis the "international law and the Saharawi
people’s historical and moral rights".
The Rally was organised by a civil plate-form that advocates the
holding of a referendum on the independence of Western Sahara.
Hundreds persons, including the leader of the Spanish
ecological-communist coalition “Izquierda Unida” (IU), Mr.
Gaspar Llamazares, took part to the demonstration.
During the rally, Mr. Llamazares, called on the socialist
government of José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, to "respect its
engagements vis-à-vis the international law and the historical
and moral rights of Western Sahara".
The demonstration tat started from the Station of Atocha, and
ended at the Place Mayor, in the centre of Madrid.
