SADR/POLISARIO/SESSION

The Saharawi people reject any solution that does not recognise its right to self-determination (POLISARIO Front)

Bir Lehlu, 10/11/2007 (SPS) POLISARIO Front reaffirmed, on Friday, that the Saharawi people will accept no solution that does not include its right to self-determination or does not approach the conflict as a problem of decolonisation, after an extraordinary session held on Thursday under the presidency of the Head of the Saharawi State, Mohamed Abdelaziz.

In a press release that concluded the works of the extraordinary session of POLISARIO Front’s National Secretariat (NS), of which SPS received a copy, POLISARIO underlined that "the Saharawi people will never accept a solution that does not approach the conflict as a decolonisation problem with the necessity of enabling the Saharawis to exercise their right to self-determination and independence".

Concerning the situation "at the national internal level", The NS hailed the "resistance of the Saharawi people in exile and in the liberated territories, as well as the resistance of the fighters of the Saharawi Army of liberation in the front lines".

The press release also hailed the Saharawi fighters "readiness to resume the struggle for the achievement of the liberation of the occupied zone of the Saharawi territory".

On this occasion, the NS addressed an appeal to the Saharawi people to "tighten up the ranks so as to strengthen the national unity under the leadership of POLISARIO Front, to diversify the forms of national activism, to support the peaceful and courageous resistance realised by the Intifada for the independence and realise the conditions for the success of POLISARIO Front’s 12th Congress, making of it a stage of decisive struggle in the national battle for freedom, dignity and independence".

With regards to the situation in the occupied zones and the Moroccan universities, the highest political body of the Saharawi legitimate representative, "hailed the struggle led by the children of the Intifada of Independence", expressing "the admiration of the Saharawi people for great sacrifices of the children of the Intifada".

It further expressed its "satisfaction about the success of the 33rd Conference of solidarity with the Saharawi people held between the 18 and 20 October in Rome (Italy), which gathered hundreds supporters and sympathisers with the Saharawi struggle from all continents ".

The NS also paid tribute to the Spanish judge Baltsar Garzon for the "legal suit engaged against the Moroccan officials who committed crimes against humanity towards the Saharawi citizens since the Moroccan military invasion in Western Sahara in October 31st 1975". (SPS)
