Bir Lehlu (liberated territories),
07/10/2007 (SPS) "We vividly denounce the negative attitude by
the Moroccan government, which did not allow the Collective of
the Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) to hold its
constitutive conference and we call on the international
community to assume its responsibility so as to guarantee the
fundamental freedoms of the Saharawi citizens and their rights
to constitute associations", the Saharawi President underlined
in a communiqué.
CODESA, which is based in El Aaiun, postponed to a future date
the holding of its constitutive conference, which was planed to
take place on Sunday, because the Moroccan authorities refused
to give the activists the permission to organise it.
"The Moroccan government gives thus a new proof on its violation
of human rights and democracy and that it oppresses the
fundamental freedoms of expression, association and movement",
the same text indicated.
"It is absurd to pretend wanting a climate of confidence for the
holding of the negotiations in a good will between the two
parties to the conflict, POLISARIO Front and Morocco, under a
climate marked by Moroccan repressive practices", the communiqué
stressed. (SPS)
