Here is the complete text of a public statement mad by the Head of
the Saharawi delegation to the press after the first round of the

Manhasset:
Statement of Mahfoud Ali Beiba the Saharawi Parliament and President
of POLISARIO Front delegation:
"With the closure of these two days of the process of direct
negotiations between POLISARI Front and the kingdom of Morocco, I
would like to express to the UN Secretary General and his Personal
Envoy the sincere thanks of POLISARIO Front for their efforts that
made this event happen.
POLISARIO Front participated with good faith and with a high sense
of responsibility towards the Saharawi people and all the peoples of
the region with a view to contribute to the success of this first
round of the negotiations.
These two days confirmed that to reach "a just and mutually
acceptable political solution that provides for self-determination
for the people of Western Sahara", which was fixed by the
international community as an objective to these negotiations, it is
necessary to be armed with perseverance, patience and creativity.
POLISARIO Front will save no effort to meet the expectations of the
international community and will manage to make the process succeed
in prevailing justice and international legality in Western Sahara
as well as brotherhood, harmony and good neighbourhood between the
brother peoples, Moroccan and Saharawi and all the peoples of the
Maghreb.
The proposition POLISARIO Front, which is on the table, comes from
the will of the Saharawi political leadership will to subscribe with
determination its efforts in this historical perspective aimed to
overcome the tragedies of 32 years conflict. It is in this spirit
that POLISARIO Front participated to this round of negotiations that
ends today and we will participate to the future negotiations planed
for the second week of August 2007 in Manhasset.
POLISARIO Front hopes that our brothers Moroccans will make history
with us by seizing this precious occasion we are offered.
POLISARIO Front also hopes that the international community and the
UN will continue to fully assume their responsibility in the
finishing of the decolonisation of Western Sahara.
Thanks”. (SPS)
