Mohamed Abdelaziz congratulates the President of the Mauritanian Military Council for Justice and Democracy

 

Chahid El Hafed, 28/03/2007 (SPS) The President of the South African Pan African Congress’s (PAC), Mofihili Likotsi, reaffirmed "the position of support of his party to the self-determination of the Saharawi people, during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Saharawi Republic in South Africa, Mr. Ubbi Bachir, at the seat of the South African National Parliament in Cape Town

 

Mr. Likotsi stressed that this position, "is not only conform with the principles of South Africa but it is also the best way to pay tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and victims of the struggle our country waged against the regime of apartheid". 

 

"Your struggle in the Western Sahara is a reflection of our history as a people and you represent in North Africa the place in the world that most recall us of our country before the defeat of the racist regime in 1994", he added.

 

The Saharawi Ambassador on his side reaffirmed to his interlocutor that the "only solution to the conflict passes by the vote in a referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people", estimating that "the so-called autonomy plan proposed by Morocco is born-dead”.

 

The Saharawi diplomat, it should be recalled undertakes since last Monday a work visit to the South African Parliament to draw the attention of the political groups to the dangers of the Moroccan position and intransigence.

 

During his visit Mr. Bouchraya met with Mr. Job Sithole, Person in charge of the international relations of the South African Parliament, who reaffirmed the support of his institution to the Saharawi cause stressing that it is on top of the international agenda of the Parliament.

 

On her part, Mrs. Vytjie M. P. Mentor, President of the African National Congress (ANC) in power, denounced "the serious human rights violations committed by the Moroccan State against the Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories of the Western Sahara, condemning the delays of the UN in decolonising the territory”.
