El Aaiun (occupied territories), 22/03/2007 (SPS) The
families of the Saharawi political prisoners in the Carcel Negra in
the occupied city of El Aaiun denounced the heavy sentences, going
between three years to five months, pronounced by the Moroccan
colonial court of appeal in El Aaiun against eight Saharawi
political prisoners.
"We energetically denounce these sentences against our sons and
firmly condemn the iniquitous trials the Saharawi political
prisoners are subjected to", the Saharawi families rote in press
release they published on Thursday, of which SPS received a copy.
The families also denounced the abusive transfer of the Saharawi
political prisoner, Choubeida Laraoussi, from the Carcel Negra to
the local prison of Tiznit (Morocco) last week by the Moroccan
colonial authorities without informing him or his family.
The press release further called on the UN to protect the Saharawi
civilians from the Moroccan repression, and launched an appeal to
the international Medias and organisations to help break the Medias
siege imposed on the territory, and to put pressure so as to compel
Morocco release the Saharawi political prisoners. (SPS)
